Open share groups are where transformation happens!  Share groups are confidential and anonymous.  The groups are run by trained facilitators who have life experience with that issue and are actively in recovery.  They ensure the group rules are followed by all of the participants so that everyone can have a positive, supportive experience.

Each individual who attends group has an opportunity to share about their journey, successes and failures.  Everyone gains experience, strength and hope from listening to the sharing of others, and we do that without commentary.  Participants find encouragement in learning they are not alone in their struggle or in their recovery.

Groups start right after worship ends – about 7:30pm (this schedule will begin on 10/24.)  Attendance at worship is not required for group participation.  Groups last up to one hour.  Here is a description of each and a list of group guidelines.

For individuals unfamiliar with Recovery, this is a great place to start. The facilitator will talk about recovery, explain how this program works, and provide an overview of the other groups. Questions are welcomed and typically you only attend once.

This is a co-ed group for those who deal with emotional distress, depression, anger, grief, etc.  Maybe you are dealing with the loss of a loved one, a divorce or a job.  When you have been sent reeling because of life, this may be your group.

There is a men’s group and a women’s group made up of individuals who are struggling with some form of chemical dependency including, but not limited to, alcoholism and drug addiction.  This group functions much like an AA or NA meeting.

This group is a co-ed group for those struggling with how to handle the behavior of a family member who is an alcoholic, addict or who has a compulsive nature. They will often focus on codependency – a compulsion to control and rescue people by fixing their problems.  This group strives to develop new and healthy behaviors in their relationships with other people.

TEEN SUPPORT GROUP (This is a new group – it will start on Nov 7)

This group is for young men and women 6th through 12th grade. The teens will be able to discuss personal, family, school or other issues in a safe environment with adults who are knowledgeable in recovery and care about teen struggles.  As often as possible they will split into middle and high school breakout groups, or sometimes will do so by gender. Addiction issues, anxiety, depression… whatever the topic of struggle is what will be discussed.  The facilitators are mandated reporters and are legally obligated to report any signs of abuse or neglect of a child to the appropriate authorities immediately.  We will walk alongside each other as we each seek to be our best & healthiest selves.

– Keep your sharing focused on your own thoughts and feelings and limit it to 3-5 minutes.

– There will be no cross talk, please. Cross talk is when two individuals engage in dialogue excluding
all others. Each person is free to express his/her feelings without interruption.

– We are here to support one another. We will not attempt to “fix” each other.

– Anonymity and confidentiality are basic required. What is shared in the group stays in the group!

– Offensive language has no place in a Christ-centered recovery group.
